Ayres group recognition in Department Awards
Ayres group members did well in this year’s Departmental Awards. Tucker won’t the Dover Publishing Award for communication skills in Organic Chemistry, Emily won the Milton Orchin Award for an outstanding graduate student in organic chemistry and the Hillstrom Travel Award to present research at a conference, and the whole group was recognized for their commitment to safety in the lab. I’m really proud of everyone for that one. Finally, Soren was recognized with the prestigious Michelman research fellowship. Great job!

Madison joins the group
This semester Madison will be working with us as an undergraduate researcher. We are looking forward to all of her great work!
Taylor Beck joins the group
We are happy that M.S. student Taylor Beck has joined the lab for this year. Taylor will be helping the lab branch out into some new (to us) chemistry.
Undergraduates in the lab
We are very luck to have a lot of talented undergraduate researchers in our lab this semester. They are all doing great work! Here they are:
Working with Emily are Erin, Zach and Caleb; Josh and Aissatou are working with Prathyusha, Mario is helping to train Paul and Abdul, and finally Tucker is mentoring Soren and Kathryn.

Strong showing at the Oesper Symposium
Prathyusha, Emily, and Tucker all presented posters on their research at this years Oesper Symposium at the University of Cincinnati. (Image from the UC Chemistry Department’s twitter account)
